photo critique – telephoto

My regular camera is in the shop; while I wait for it I’ve been temporarily playing around with some other gear.  Everyone knows you can’t take street photographs with a telephoto lens… but tell me what you think…

“Everyone” is wrong, and your photo proves it. 😉

Great street photos can be made using a telephoto lens. Different than a wide-angle lens, for sure, but great.

Your image draws me in right away. Nice colors and composition that set up a narrative in my mind. Is this guy inside the building, with the woman a reflection on the window? Does he know her? The shallow DOF makes for an interesting dynamic. Is she an unknown, undefined figure? Or is she a hazy memory?

I also like how the color tone of the woman matches the rest of the street behind her, while the guy’s cool tones match his environment. Nice pic.
