What is/are your favourite city/cities to shoot? And why?

Mine are so far:

Brussels, Belgium. – Such a dynamic and contrasty place, rich next to poor modern next to old.
Antwerp, Belgium. – Beautiful place with old architecture and cultural melting pot.
Rotterdam, The Netherlands – The New York of The Netherlands. Modern and beautiful architecture and people from all walks of life!
Krasnoyarsk, Russia. – A city in Siberia where ( in wintertime) it’s beautiful to see how people are coping with the extreme environment they are living in.

Looking forward to you favourite places to shoot!!

Tokyo, Japan – Could spend a lifetime shooting here.  So much going on, everything from serene to chaotic, ancient to ultra-modern.

Seattle, USA – It is my hometown and photography connects me to it in ways nothing else can.

San Pedro, Guatemala – Stunning vistas of Lake Atitlan and the surrounding volcanoes.  Beautiful people, amazing colors and gorgeous light.

Aguas Calientes, Peru – Nothing remarkable about the town itself, its just a small stopping point for tourists and backpackers on their way to Machu Picchu.  It is fascinating to see people from all walks of life and from everywhere on earth sharing in a common experience.

My mother’s side of the family was born in Delftshaven and another branch lived in Feynoord. It’s probably all gentrified now…

Hi!

I live in Rome and I try to go every year to Paris just to take pictures (more or less)! So inspiring, full of beautiful corners and a daily life so interesting to shoot. Furthermore, I was once in NYC and it was awesome for photography. I’d really like to visit it again.

In future I absolutely want to visit Tokyo, I think it’s perfect for street photography.

on June 20, 2017

I also would love to go to Tokio in the future!
How about Rome itself alessio? I can imagine that in such a famous and historic place a lot of potentially great shots can be found!

on June 20, 2017

Absolutely yes. Rome is great but, you know, it’s hard to keep the eyes wide in your homeplace (I mean, when I’m in travel I’m always focused on anything around me, in Rome I think to know everything, so I think I miss lot of good pictures for that reason). I don’t know how to explain 🙂 By the way, Rome is really amazing for photography.

I know exactly what you mean!! I have had the same problem in my hometown.
But I kept on shooting, and what I found out is that in comparison with every other city where you go, you can really slow down. Because you slow down you actually see more details, more people, and more interesting scenes.
If you go to Paris on a vacation, for instance, you go there for 1 maybe 2 weeks so you have a limit. And even though you see a lot of new stuff you will never see everything in those 2 weeks.
And if I can do that in my hometown- Bergen op Zoom, The Netherlands- I am sure you can do that in such a cultural and historical city like Rome!!

It’s absolutely true! 🙂

Prague, Czech Republic – beautiful old town, centre is not so crowded (in the morning) and if you know Prague well, you can find a lot of awesome calm places there.

on June 20, 2017

I was in the Czech Republic ones! It is a very nice country overall! Never went to Prague though! Maybe I should go ones?

The best place to shoot is where I’m – G. Winogrand – end of discussion 🙂

on June 21, 2017

Haha! According to him, it is!
And in a way the quote is right, but still there is a place where you like to shoot the most! 🙂
