I’ve been looking at the Epson Perfection V800 Photo Color Scanner and wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this product? Would you recommend it? Do you use another scanner you like better?
I like my v600. The native software is pretty nice and efficient once it’s rolling. I have two major issues with it. First, the strip holders for 35mm film don’t have intermediate supports between frames. So films that don’t dry totally flat will press against the glass and make interference patterns. I think there are ways to wet mount film which take care of this (like in microscopy), but they’re probably inneficient. Also, it sometimes has trouble recognising frame start/stop points.
