I really love the photo, the colors are great, the different shades of blue that appear.
the thing that caught my eyes was the fact that the kid has her toys, and her father, if I can assume that, has his toys as well – the camera in his hand, the phone in his pocket.
in me it provokes the thought\feeling about the real role of toys – replace loved ones’ distraction. especially when the dad is cut in half – has no Identity.
that picture provokes in me a lot of feelings
Thank you for the great critique! I always find it mesmerizing how a single picture can bring different feelings/thoughts in different people!
Again, Thank you!!
I agree with Stavis. I do wish the arm coming out of the left side of the frame was not there- perhaps a crop? The nail polish make me think she (or her parents) are trying to give her a more adult look, but her necklace comes off as being a sweetly clumsy attempt to dress like someone older. And then of course, she is pure child holding that stuffed animal. There is also a cool contrast between the sweet little girl and those very strong hands.
I really like the first comment about the toys, very nice. To me I’m just thinking she’s giving you that look, but what is her dad thinking, did he see you ? Is he staring you down as well ? Very intrguing, good one.
Thank you, Antoine! He did not see me taking the picture.
Only the girl noticed me taking the picture.
Thanks again!
I love the man’s slouch; I feel that I do not need to see his face to understand who he is. Great light and colors; the pops of the red and the way the girl emerges from the shadows is terrific.
I wish I took this picture, :). It’s a strong image and I really like the colors. For me the arm on the leftside, gives the photo extra punch (3x blue). I wonder, how did you take this picture whitout the man noticing you? Did you take it at a event or something? Did you take a few pictures or just this shot?
Thanks for asking @NIKH!!!
Took the shot on the streets in The Hague.
I saw the scene, rushed towards it, stand with my back towards them. After this, I turned around and relied on my shooting from the hip skills, and took only 1 shot.
The second after I shot it, the father took his kids and continued his day.
