Thank you for these book recommendations! I had a bizarre dream about a post-apocalyptic world where women were only allowed to read tabloids and “women’s magazines.”
We’ve been thinking a lot about consumption and production as of late in the realm of creativity, art, and photography.
The art director for COLORS magazine had something very interesting to say recently about high capitalism, consumption and the sharing of content by corporations instead of people. Like, we give people our content to entertain each other and they don’t have to lift a finger to Produce it. Whereas in the past creative production was funded when a producer or business found someone that they could exploit, now we exploit ourselves and rarely see equal or lateral growth from that exploitation.
