Beyond Street Club?

I’ve learned a lot from Street Club and really got a lot out of seeing everyone’s photos and feedback. I especially love the feeling of connection to other photographers around the world and seeing what life is like in other places.

I know it is a lot of work for Eric and Cindy to put the video together each week and give us in-depth feedback… but I wonder if they’d consider continuing to issue a weekly assignment for people who are interested. We could continue to post feedback but not have the weekly follow-up video if it’s easier for the mods to do it that way.

Having a weekly assignment helps me learn something new each week and apply it to the assignment. Really keeps me on track and builds my enthusiasm and confidence. What do people think?

And while I’m here… a photo I got this past weekend, at a roadside stand where some Amish people were selling their quilts.

Hey there Ryan!

Love your enthusiasm and ideas! Maybe you can start a new thread on just ‘street photography’ assignments? Maybe based off some ideas here? http://erickimphotography.com/blog/photography-assignments/  Would you like to be in charge of this?

I think I could handle that! Thanks! I’ll be in touch in a PM soon.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to followup on this thread because today is the last day of Street Club and I wanted to open up the discussion to new ideas on creating a learning community. If anyone has any ideas as to continuing the learning classroom, through assignments, challenges, projects, etc, share them here! We would love all of you to take ownership of this space and make it useful and inspiring for your photography and creative endeavors 🙂

In my modest but sincere oppinion without a follow-up by somebody that really has the expertise (and the willing) in photography in general and in street photography specifically it´s going to be something that has a great deal of chance that it may not work out…Additionally I´ve being looking to the assignment list that Eric has made and some oh these and/or others that you find in many sites on the internet are quite general and/or superficial and/or are assigments that are hard to gain some experience from them whithout the help of an expertise photographer…

I´m just thinking loud here….by saying this does not mean that we should not try to do this exercise by ourselves…I just don´t see to much a chance of sucess and/or of learning much…

Explaining better what I meant before: I feel that certain assignments do not have clear objectives and/or have too difficult goals to attain and/or have their learning outcomes in doubt … and in these cases, without the help of a photographer with a lot of experience makes the photos presented by the participant of this assignment do not get a reading and appreciation that contributes to his/her formation…
